Tara secures the DFL endorsement for District 1 Ramsey County Commissioner!

Thank you to all who attended the Ramsey County DFL Endorsing Convention on May 2 at the Painters and Allied Trades Hall. The evening started with county updates, appreciation for constituents, and encouraging words for Tara’s campaign from outgoing District 1 Commissioner Nicole Frethem and Ramsey County Attorney John Choi.

Tara & Alexis

The main order of business, endorsing Tara as their Ramsey County Commissioner candidate, centered the voices of District 1 delegates. Beginning with Alexis Varner, from the Vadnais Heights Community Action Network, who shares with Tara a “commitment to fostering inclusivity, equity, and progress”. Speaking on Tara’s behalf, Alexis stated that:

My support stems from a deep-seated belief in Tara’s unwavering commitment to improving our community. With Ramsey County at the center of building capacity to meet the needs of the community and Tara’s background of twenty-five years in public policy, wellness, education, equity, older adult, and mental health, her platform resonates with the aspirations of countless individuals across our county,
In endorsing Tara Jebens-Singh, you will be endorsing a principled leader poised to champion the interests of all Ramsey County Residents. Through her steadfast advocacy, unwavering dedication, and profound empathy, Tara epitomizes the caliber of leadership our community deserves - forward-thinking, compassionate, and resolutely committed to the common good.
Mariel Culhane

Mariel Culhane, a first-time delegate, has “witnessed Tara's outstanding leadership” as a former colleague at White Bear Lake Area Schools and as a Northeast Youth & Family Services board member. Mariel shared her insights on Tara as a friend and a leader:

Her personal and professional experiences endow her with a profound understanding of the challenges individuals face, fostering a deep connection with those she seeks to serve. Tara isn't merely about rhetoric; she's about action. In her role as executive director, Tara exhibited remarkable vision, spearheading initiatives that transformed countless lives.
But what truly sets Tara apart is her authenticity. What you see is what you get with her. She understands that genuine progress stems from authentic connections. Through sharing her own experiences, she creates supportive communities where others feel safe to do the same.
Tara isn't just a leader; she's a friend. Each interaction with her exudes warmth and humility, making you feel like she's right there beside you. Her leadership isn't just about fulfilling obligations; it's about uplifting individuals and instilling them with the courage to persevere. So, without a doubt, Tara is the real deal. She's a beacon of hope, a catalyst for change, and one of the most remarkable friends you could hope to have.

John Doan

John Doan, Shoreview City Council Member, first met Tara through shared efforts to broaden transportation services for older adults. They continue to work on local issues through the Ramsey County League of Local Governments. John confirmed earlier delegate statements, going on to say:

Tara is a champion for older adults, families, and children. As a Shoreview City Council member, we partner with Ramsey County for essential public safety, social services, and environmental protection. Having Tara on the Ramsey County Board ensures that our community values are well represented.

Summing it up, Commissioner Frethem quoted Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, "Though she be but little, she is fierce." and formally nominated Tara for endorsement. Over 89 delegates unanimously endorsed Tara Jebens-Singh as the DFL Candidate for District 1 Ramsey County Commissioner. Tara was granted a few extra minutes to share more about herself and her vision for the county. She concluded by expressing her gratitude to all the volunteers, speakers, and delegates for their time, energy, support, and - most importantly - joining her in The Big Work!
